My last day of maternity leave

Published by scoopcath at 6:34 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Yesterday was my last day of maternity leave.  I am pretty sad.  I had planned on staying home for six months, but it didn’t work out.  I work for a very large school district, and their policies weren’t clear.  I didn’t figure out how it all worked until I was eight weeks into my leave.

It was a really great four months.  I loved every minute.  I think back to those early days when Thomas was up every few hours during the night.  I didn’t know what I was doing, but I did the best I could.  My husband was amazing.  In those first few weeks he took care of the laundry and grocery shopping.  He made all the meals, brought me breakfast in bed.   I knew that Thomas would eventually sleep through the night, and in turn I would, too.

Here we are, only four months in.  Thomas sleeps through the night, I’m able to go shopping and make meals.   I head to work today.  I’ll drop my baby at the sitter.  My life has already changed, but this will be an even different change.
